I can’t say enough Janet.  She is incredibly knowledgeable  about her work and dedicated to it.  I do Qigong with her twice a week and it’s a great experience. It includes relaxing work for the whole body and she takes one through the experience thoroughly, lovingly and relaxingly.
And I also work with her twice a week with leg work because of a bad knee and the results are very promising. It’s a method of self massage and terrific.

A few weeks ago, my mom was visiting and was telling me about chronic pain she’s been having in her neck. She had gotten a cortisone injection a few months prior and was getting ready to schedule her next one because the pain was back.

 

Coincidentally, my neck has been hurting for about 6 months on and off and I’d gotten some support from my chiropractor and osteopath and even done some acupuncture on myself. All of it helped, but the pain kept returning.

 

On this day, it was pretty present, maybe 6/10 level pain. Well it was Sunday morning and I had signed up to take a virtual qi gong class with the amazing Jan Bull. I invited my mom to do it with me, and we both enjoyed a beautiful class.

 

About 30 minutes into doing the qi gong exercises, my mom rotates her head back and forth and then nods up and down a few times and says, “My neck doesn’t hurt!” I’m thinking- ‘Woah, that’s amazing! We’re doing pelvic floor qi gong and it’s helped my mom’s neck pain.’ Then I rotated my head back and forth and nodded up and down a few times, only to discover that my neck pain was also gone!! Whaaaaattt?!?!? I’m an acupuncturist; I’ve seen a lot of amazing healing happen, but this was shocking even to me. 30 minutes of pelvic floor qi gong and our necks were feeling great! Truly remarkable! That was early December. My neck pain hasn’t returned! Incorporating more qi gong into my life is a goal for 2024, as I’m so curious what other benefits await.

 

I’ll be joining Jan for her next class—  Jan offers SO MUCH support to her students. I can’t recommend her highly enough (and those of you who know me know I’m really discerning about my practitioners). Jump in if you’re called! And feel free to share with others.

 

Qi gong is a very gentle form of movement that helps energy and blood circulate and can be powerfully healing. It is suitable for people in various physical conditions, so don’t be shy if you’re feeling a bit weaker or out of shape.
